Climate Leadership and Sustainability Strategy

Climate Leadership and Sustainability Strategy explores how climate change is influencing organizations, communities, and strategic decision-making, while providing practical tools to help professionals navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain future.
Participants will explore climate risk and resilience, sustainability and ESG fundamentals, systems thinking, climate justice, Nature-Based Solutions, community resilience, and inclusive leadership. The course also introduces climate simulation and scenario-planning tools to help participants evaluate future possibilities, consider trade-offs, and support more informed decision-making.
Through current climate examples, practical case scenarios, group discussions, interactive climate simulations, and guided reflection, participants will connect these concepts to their organizations and communities. The course concludes with the development of a practical Climate Leadership Action Plan, enabling participants to identify priorities, actions, and measures they can apply in professional and community contexts.
Designed for professionals working in government, industry, consulting, Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, education, or resource management, this MicroCourse will build knowledge and confidence in climate leadership and sustainability strategy. No previous climate or sustainability expertise is required.
Course will be 4 hours long.

Sustainability Consultant & Climate Educator
Nazwa WB Salim is a sustainability consultant, climate educator, professional trainer, and doctoral researcher in Environmental Applied Science and Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Master of Engineering Design in Sustainable Community Infrastructure and an MBA in Human Resource Management.
Nazwa’s work focuses on climate leadership, sustainability strategy, systems thinking, climate and energy justice, resilient communities, and equitable sustainability transitions. She is a Carbon Literacy-certified professional and En-ROADS Climate Ambassador, using climate simulation, scenario planning, and participatory learning to make complex climate challenges more accessible and actionable.
Bringing together research, professional practice, and climate education, Nazwa helps organizations and communities understand emerging climate risks, navigate complex sustainability challenges, and identify practical pathways toward greater resilience and long-term impact.
