Keith is a member of the Haida Nation, Yaghulanaas clan, with family roots in the village of Dadens on Langara Island in Haida Gwaii. His artistic journey began in 1980 under the guidance of his uncle, Claude Davidson, learning the fundamentals of Haida design. He first worked with argillite before transitioning to wood carving and later silver and gold, mentored by his cousins Reg Davidson and Robert Davidson.

Today, Keith’s practice is centered on contemporary jewelry, wood carvings, and paintings that feature Haida designs inspired by family teachings, Haida mythology, and the personal stories of his clients. His work captures meaningful narratives, translating them into intricate designs that honor tradition while embracing innovation.

While he is primarily a jeweller, Keith continuously pushes the boundaries of his craft, exploring new artistic expressions beyond precious and semi-precious metals. His designs not only showcase technical skills but also serve as a powerful connection to Haida culture and storytelling. You can learn more about Keith and explore his extensive collection of creative works on his website: http://www.keithkerrigan.ca/.
