The Env. Field Skills Program was a great "overview" of many different avenues you could pursue as an environmental graduate, however for the price I expected more depth/detail. I also noted issues with videos, issues with quizzes (unable to view photos required to answer questions) and I had an instructor mark my tree ID correct, only to later find out it was wrong.

I completed my Environmental Field Skills course this month and am really excited about this school. The instructors are very qualified and can help at any time with their wealth of experience and their open willingness to discuss. The learning material was easy for me as a foreign language student to understand and you could delve deeper into the modules at your own discretion and interest, while other parts were limited to the compulsory part. Personally, this learning system helped me a lot to discover my own areas of focus and arouse interest in new areas of ecology. This self-directed type of study, well supported by the lecturers in the respective department, really helped me a lot and for me it is the epitome of online study.Of course, it must be clear to everyone that the content taught only represents a very stable basis and can never replace a bachelor's or master's degree.I would take this course again at any time and can highly recommend it to anyone interested! Many greetings from Germany,Reiner

I've mostly completed my Environmental Field Skills program that was offered through my job. I just have some coursework to complete to graduate with my certificate. The program was decent. Pretty good pace and level of coursework while also having to maintain a job and other responsibilities. Loses 2 stars because it's extremely hard to get in touch with someone and receive a follow-up when needed. No one ever picks up the phone or returns your emails. A few weeks before the end of the program I was asked if I would like to take advantage of mentoring opportunities since I was a bit behind on the coursework. I replied that I was interested and asked how I would go about it...no response. I was informed that I won a tape measure from a weekly raffle and was asked for an address to have it sent. I responded the same day with this information and haven't heard anything since or received the tool. I sent a follow-up email and again, haven't heard back. This was over the course of a month and a half now. My posts in the Facebook group seem to go unnoticed too when the moderator is constantly posting.EDIT: They gave attention to my concerns expeditiously and provided a positive resolution. I appreciate it!

Natural Resources Training Group is a group of educated professionals, mostly PhD's dedicated to teaching tailored programs to support the specific environmental workforce needs at entry level. The courses are fairly priced & money is very well spent, as a student I felt very prepared & confident to enter a workforce I had no prior experience in. The teachers are very supportive & there for the students for lifetime after courses are completed. The course tuition grants access to the course for life if you choose to take the course again to refresh on the course information. There is no better education out there in environmental sciences for entry level students.

Did the backpack electrofishing course and I am very satisfied with it. The online training modules were informative and included both a video and text overview of all the content to cater to different learning styles. The field session was lots of fun and the instructor (Danny) was very knowledgeable and passionate about fisheries Biology.

I recently took the 'Avian Nest Sweeps and Monitoring Methods' through NRTG. Jeannine was knowledgeable and did a great job engaging students through the Zoom format. The course material was relevant and really the only course in Canada available on this subject. As someone who already completes nest surveys, this course added to my knowledge base. It would also be valuable for less experienced people. The field portion of the course was not available for my session but I think it would have made the course perfect!

This was a very interesting class, just learning about the world around me and take in and report on what I find. I learned so much in such a short time but was made easy through the instructor.

My experiences with NRTG have been amazing. The willingness and ease of the instructors to pass on their knowledge is spectacular. All of the instructors I have dealt with have been more than willing to get to to know the students over all in general not just teach what they have to teach. NRTG is killing it.
