Wetland Plant Identification – Online – June 9th & June 16th, 2025

Note: This event is split into two sessions over two days; June 9th and June 16th.

Wetlands are crucial ecosystems that have been disappearing from the landscape for decades. Understanding and documenting the vegetation within them is essential for various reasons. This course is designed to assist you on your journey to comprehend the plant species present in these wetlands. We’ll start by exploring the terminology required to understand identification keys and then move on to learning about different classes of wetland plants. Our ultimate goal is to build your confidence and make the identification of wetland plants a little less daunting.

Intended Audience:

This course is intended for students, young professionals, or plant enthusiasts with a beginner level of knowledge of plant identification looking to improve their skills and become more effective at wetland plant identification.

  • any plant identification books for your local area
  • 10x loupe (example: Jeweler-Loupe-Triplet-Magnifier-Magnification) or magnifying glass
  • Plant samples to practise using keys with – fresh or pressed
  • Clear Ruler
