Technical Writing for Professionals: Report Writing – Online, March 3, 2023

Report writing is, for many professionals, a fundamental part of their work. Whether it is a progress report to a client, a document to a regulatory agency, a scientific paper, a final close-out report, or a myriad of other types of report. It may be solo authored or a compilation of multi-author contributions. Often the format is carefully scripted by convention. The goal of the report, though, is to provide important information to the reader, in a form that is clear and engaging.

Building upon Technical Writing for Professionals, we will delve deeper into increasing clarity of writing within the context of the report. The companion course Technical Writing for Professionals is recommended as a prerequisite for anyone with less than five years experience writing reports prior to taking this course. For those that have been writing reports more than five years you have likely learned the more basic lessons through the ‘school of hard-knocks’.
